It is a hotel located on the big island of Chiloé, inspired by rural settlements and Patagonian ranches, which provides a shelter to contemplate the extreme and changing climate of Chiloé's landscapes. The Estancia is located on the Rilan peninsula, known for its winding green meadows, views of the channels and islands of the Chiloé archipelago, and small rural villages with a country lifestyle.

With an area of 250m2, the challenge was to reuse an existing construction in apparent good conditions, turn it into a versatile hotel and also generate a new program for the city of Castro, its citizens and its visitors, being these tourists or companies. The place is located at the roadside, with good access, looking from the top of the estuary of the city of Castro, an attractive location for a hotel. From its location and what the city needs, the order and the decision of the program and its complementary design were taken to set the project order.

The place: a leafy removal forest mainly of Arrayanes, impenetrable, without tracks
or paths which by its location, it should have privileged views towards the Canal de
Yal and Lemuy island. The search for the place to locate the project was made using a large stair to peek over the treetops and that way, discover the views. The amazement, that capacity to find and amaze oneself because of something unexpected, was the important part of the place and it should also be an important part of the project-

The Place
The place has an unbeatable view where the volcanoes appear like a white mantle on the horizon and the tide goes down abruptly and let’s see different layers on the ground: a beautiful sandy beach, then stones with sand and after that, ordered stones that draw circular geometries between the beach and the sea. At that moment, the place whispers its history to us.
