The architectural strategy used has been to create a building whose exterior is defined by a language that seeks abstraction through colour, rhythm, and movement: a language that will contrast with the domestic private life of the residents inside. To combine these two concepts moveable panels have been mounted on the façades. By opening or closing them, residents can choose the level of light or privacy they want at any time throughout the year.

The existing Social Center expands with a third new volume located at the south area of the building complex. This new wing redefines two patios of distinct character: the first courtyard is an enclosure and has a cloister character, and the second one is more opened and dynamic.

This project arose in answer to the requirements of the basic guidelines established in a specific modification to the local development framework. The brief was to replace the homes which had been expropriated to enlarge the Trade Fair Area (Pavilions 5 and 7). The new homes will be located facing Ciencias Street, and the objective is to create an internal space which will be protected by the new pavilions and the multifamily apartment block.

The main renovation work for La Candela nursery and primary school, built by the architect Josep Maria Vives in 1931, was to erect a separate staircase and lift by the central axis of the building, and also to carry out extensive interior remodelling.

In this case there were several prefabricated modules already on the site, which helped determine the location of the school. In contrast to other Nurseries and Primary Schools we did in the past, we had to make this design more compact, replacing the large central patio for a regular series of patios to enlarge the visual perception of the ground floor passages, and to create a place where the two different age groups could come together.
