The entire volume of Casa RJ is shaped by board-formed exposed concrete, which extends to the ground-floor roof slabs, composing a precise interplay of lines and tie holes planned since the concreting phase. This constructive gesture receives no cladding: the concrete itself is the final finish, carrying the strength of the material in its purest expression.

The Imbé House was born from the desire to revisit the traditional way of beach living on the Rio Grande do Sul coast: outside of gated communities, closer to the street, the neighborhood, and the emotional memories that carry through childhood. It is a house with a discreet, almost reserved presence, which gradually reveals its true dimension through its spatial experience and the careful relationship between openings, courtyards, and pathways.

The house presents itself introspectively: its main facade is defined by a continuous grápia wood panel that conceals the entrances and reinforces the sense of retreat. Resting upon this warm wooden plane is a massive basalt volume, a direct analogy to the cobblestone street and the most abundant rock in Rio Grande do Sul, symbolically and sensorially connecting the architecture to its territory.

The interior design of the 39m² commercial room was based on the premise of housing the 03 headquarters of the Concept Architecture Workshop, located in Porto Alegre, and in the same building that houses the 02 headquarters of the office. The choice of materiality was designed so that we could create a mixed environment that transited between the industrial (metal tile + exposed concrete slab + steel sheet lighting track) and the classic (natural wood and white).

With about 400 m², the renovation carried out in this apartment located in Porto Alegre/RS - Brasil had to be strategic. Despite being large, the irregularity of the floor plan generates residual spaces worked by our project team to optimize the layout and circulations. The concrete beams diagonally crossed the rooms, for this reason, we tried to hide them with the plaster lining and we only left visible the solid slab in places that we consider appropriate for this gesture.

Located in Gravataí / RS, Casa RA has a close relationship with its surroundings. When we were challenged to design this house, we went to the land and realized that the two immediate neighbors were already built. On the north face, two floors stood next to the boundary shading much of the land. On the south side, a single storey house away from the boundary was more friendly.

In this project, a couple asked us to design a house but should it be simple, efficient and low-cost construction. The clients’ lifestyle was extremely important to set the best strategy. She is an agronomist, take care of her garden and condo’s garden. She has an organic garden with delicious foods and spices. She involved and teach the neighborhood with healthy recipes. He cooks an amazing barbecue for friends and clients, because of that he is known as Mr. BBQ. The idea was zoning the house in two blocs: The social area is composed of painted bricks and there is an exposed concrete marquee used as a garage and frontal terrace. In the other volume, with exposed bricks, there is the private and intimate area. Two suites and a sewing atelier. A linear corridor connects both volumes and allows a people flow from the main entrance to the garage and the back garden.
