This serviced apartment and hotel in the suburbs of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, sits between Phnom Penh International Airport and the city’s downtown, in an area frequented primarily by foreign tourists and business travelers. In typical service apartments, shared spaces are fully separated from private living spaces, but in this project the client anticipated that people of many different nationalities would be using the facility, and therefore requested that the living spaces be as open as possible to the public spaces in order to create an environment that encourages casual interactions within the course of everyday life.

Place in common space It is a housing complex in five story and 13 households that builts like overcrowding the small factory and the house in surroundings. In the situation in which the site was almost enclosed in the building, it was thought that it had not only relies on the surrounding for the dwelling environment but also it made it . A common space plays the role here. The lighting, ventilation ,and view, and the element requested outside is usually taken in construction, and shared with each unit.

A moderate distance is kept outside by assuming the tenement house form. I thought that an independent approach to each unit is connected at the outside environment with planting and the chance to touch.

I move from Kamakura Station to the residential area by a train. I pass through the small tunnel covered by trees. Then I appear in many places of green preserved in the mountain. I go down the station, and a flat way spreads out. A site looks like the valley along the slant when I go up the slope of the immediate slant.
