FIU Gallery is located on Yuyuan Road in Shanghai, a legendary century-old street. Historically, it was a gathering place for elites, including Western expatriates and foreign trade compradors during the concession era. Today, it is gradually transforming into a renowned cultural district in Shanghai, blending history, art, and humanity. For this project, the client's brief for FIU Gallery was to create a space full of possibilities within a limited budget. It needed to function as a gallery, retail shop, and office on a daily basis, while also accommodating pop-ups, artist exhibitions, cross-disciplinary performances, and other events on an irregular basis. Crucially, the design had to allow for seamless transitions between static and dynamic exhibitions, retail, and office functions.
