A House is a renovation of a wooden house that had become an unauthorised structure due to r repeated extensions and alterations since it was constructed 100 years ago. The processes to bring this house back into compliance with the current building regulations and reapply for planning permission involved 1) removing the unauthorised extensions, 2) constructing a new foundation inside the existing structure for seismic reinforcement, and 3) applying fire-resistant wall cladding. The renovation of A House can be used as a case study to explore the possibilities for other wooden structures with similar conditions.

“Fukuyama higashi police station Ekimae KOBAN” is a police box of Fukuyama higashi police station, located in front of Fukuyama Station, Fukuyama city, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Our proposal won the competition to design a new police box in front of the Station. According to Fukuyama Station Area Design Plan 2019, this area will be surrounded by high-rise buildings of offices and hotels. Therefore, our proposal was to design the police box at a human scale to reduce distances between spaces and people.

Located in a nature-rich residential area of Tokyo, TAKAASHIROU is a three storey-building consisting of a pastry shop on the 1st floor and residents from the 2nd – 3rd floors. This building is constructed along a slope of a cliff line and supported by tall wooden pillars with distinctive architectural elements.
Design of a stacked house‘Jubako house’is based on our concerning on the relationship between the house and surrounding neighborhood. Jubako: Japanese food stacked boxes, is a set of food containers which can be stacked to sort various kinds of food into each layer. We conceptualized Jubako to create space from series of boundary where perimeter of internal space can be linked with external space. Therefore, we carefully thought about dimension of the building, choices of material and sizes of openings.
