Since its inception in the late 1930s, the central promenade of the young Bauhaus city of Tel Aviv played a key role in establishing the ever-changing connection between the city and its shore. In all of the various phases of its life, the elevated boardwalk acted as a border between the city and its beach.

Situated on one of Israel’s most breathtaking waterfronts, the Tel Aviv Port was plagued with neglect since 1965, when its primary use as an operational docking port was abandoned. The recently completed public space development project managed to restore this unique part of the city, and turn it into a prominent, vivacious urban landmark.

The Remez Arlozorov Community Campus was the winning entry of a public competition held by the Tel Aviv Municipality. The call was for the design of a communal, mixed use complex at the center of Tel Aviv, next to some iconic buildings from the sixties. The winning scheme by Mayslits Kassif Architects organized the compound's buildings - an auditorium, a sports center, a residential tower and an education wing - around a public space which serves as the vital hub of the complex.
