The heritage intervention proposal on this derelict property seeks to redirect its use with an orientation towards flexible workspaces to enhance and diversify the educational nature of the sector. For this, it is necessary to reinforce and rebuild the original facades and construct a new building that reconstitutes the rhythm of use and activity that today has been interrupted by the programmatic void left by the fire leaving the scenographic facade. To be known as a mixed space, both in its use and its materiality, which considers in its proposal the vestige of the destroyed house, where you can work, eat, walk, and take pleasure of, in the middle of the university neighborhood of Santiago.

The “La Palomera” (pigeon loft) project arose from a number of coincidences starting a few years ago, when, after remodelling a floor of offices in Santiago we were left with 37 windows, they were 3.2mts high with widths varying between 40cm and 120cm. Among them 15 were frosted glass and 10 were protex type hinged doors (1), in addition there was a kitchenette and a complete bathroom. We also took a box of focal lights, albeit not knowing what for, just to rescue them from the rubbish tip.

The house is Located in Lo Curro hill in the capital city of Chile, Santiago. The site, long and with gentle slope, is covered with a forest of eucalyptus trees planted 30 years ago and it is crossed by an irrigation canal. It faces north and has a front view of the southern slope of the hill with vegetation, and a side view of the area east towards the city and the Cordillera de los Andes. This site brings together the best of central Chile, in addition to being just minutes from highways and therefore connected to anywhere.
