Mario Cucinella, Architect and Founder of MCA, commented: "Designing the Italian Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka is a unique opportunity to create a true stage, not only to showcase the culture, history, and innovation of our country but also to establish a space for fostering connections: for future dialogue, for strengthening cultural, social, and economic ties. Aligned with one of the Expo's themes, 'Saving Lives', the project and its architectural and technological content, as well as the choices of material, propose a renewed balance among humanity, nature, and technology. The Italian Pavilion can become a powerful tool to promote, inspire action, and establish new synergies for the development of a more sustainable future. It represents a new vision of society and the city: a living organism where the relationships among people, art, the environment, and history can come alive." The Italian Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka is presented as a living, regenerative ecosystem, capable of embodying the continuous dialogue among tradition and innovation, art and science, craftsmanship and technology. Designed and built by MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects, the Pavilion is conceived as a dynamic and immersive laboratory, offering a journey through Italy, told via a series of sensory and narrative experiences that actively engage the visitor.

Recovering a site for new cultural activities - Located in a central area near Aosta's historic center, MCA's project focuses on conserving and repurposing the existing main buildings of the former Testafochi Barracks, and the construction of a university campus. Whilst the project is strongly recognizable as a landmark in present-day Aosta, it respects the plan arrangement of the original system but revolutionizes the whole area by opening it up to the city. The buildings are designed to contain spaces for teaching and shared activities for the various faculties, which can accommodate approximately 2000 students. The new project enhances cultural activities by expanding the heritage of green areas and integrating them to form a system that passes across the city.

Designed by Mario Cucinella Architects the exterior of this elemental and sentinel-like building draws inspiration from natural forms as well as from the tradition of austere and beautiful apsidal Calabrian churches built by monks from the eastern reaches of the former Roman Empire escaping conquest and persecution. The result is an innovative church, dedicated to Saint Maria Goretti (1890-1902) - the Catholic Church’s youngest saint - that, although a new building, appears to stand outside time.

Architecture and Musical Instruments
The House of Music was created not only to accommodate as the music classroom for two local music teaching institutions, but also to become a public concert hall for residents. Its architectural style is an inheritance of the region’s long-standing music tradition, and the plan consists of 9 interconnected circular spaces. The relationship between them is a metaphor for various instruments in an orchestra, which can be used for solo or ensemble. When the power is added together, it will produce a very shocking effect. The reference to musical instruments in the building is also achieved through oak siding, wall panels and roofs. They are not only materials and visual effects, at the same time, it has both functionality and can amplify the sound to achieve the effect of a speaker.
