With their children moving out, the couple who owns this apartment wanted to modernize their home to create more space for hosting their growing family. They also wished to expand the master suite by incorporating a private sitting room, a bedroom, and a bathroom into their private quarters.

A family of six based in São Paulo—a couple and their four children—dreamed of having a country home to escape to on weekends. They chose Fazenda Boa Vista, a residential community they discovered after staying there while visiting friends. Starting with an empty structure, the firm MAB3 Arquitetura—led by architect partners Marcela Muniz, Renata Adoni, and Mariana Bilman—reimagined and filled the spaces. Their approach features a timeless, modern, and cozy style, emphasizing natural textures and seamless integration with the landscaping.

With a baby on the way, the client couple—both advertising professionals—was looking for a new apartment to reorganize their daily routine. When they found this 2,150-square-foot (200 m²) property in the Brooklin neighborhood of São Paulo, they hired MAB3 Arquitetura to design the interior architecture.

The original floor plan of the apartment, newly delivered by the builder, featured two opposing balconies in the social area and a very narrow space in the middle for the living and dining rooms, in addition to several recesses that housed the entry hall, powder room, and pantry. To group these functions into a single orthogonal volume, we modified the position of the entrance door—which is now accessed from the side of the hall—and created a core clad in slatted wood panels (giving the project its name), encompassing the entry hall, powder room, linen closet, and tableware storage.

The restaurant is a franchise of a well-established brand in Rio de Janeiro, known for its light, healthy food and tropical-themed locations, which always feature abundant fruit in their visual design. For the São Paulo market, the goal was to incorporate tropical elements, maintaining the brand's Rio identity, but with a more sophisticated approach.
