Dobra 55 has become a pioneering new home for language education where the University of Warsaw has consolidated its varying requirements into a single sustainable center of excellence. The new 42 000 m2 building includes 92 ‘language labs’, 70 administrative rooms, 39 research and development rooms, 7 conference rooms, recreational spaces, a multimedia room that can accommodate 150 people as well as a library and reading areas, the project unites the universities’ linguistics departments into one location and brings a high level of transparency to the traditionally enclosed urban courtyard block, creating a green heart for the Powiśle riverbank district campus community.

The Tides and the Warsaw Rowing Society (WRS) buildings form a new face for Warsaw’s developing riverfront. Located on the west bank near the Prince Józef Poniatowski bridge in Warsaw’s city center, the seven-story buildings make up an elegant composition set in between two flowing lines of movement; the Vistula river, and ul. Wioślarska (the Vistula highway). Both add narrative as well as a multiplicity of forces around separate programmatic elements belonging to two different client bodies.

An international architectural competition for the Museum of the History of Polish Jews was organised in spring 2005. The first discussions regarding the plan to build such a museum had taken place ten years earlier. During those years it had become clear that there is a need for a dedicated museum as public interest towards Jewish history and culture had increased. The selection of the participants of the architectural competition was based on expressions of interest. The finalists included 11 studios, including Studio Daniel Libeskind, Kengo Kuma & Associates, Zvi Hecker Architects, Peter Eisenman and David Chipperfield.
