Nydalen station was opened in August 2003 and has acted as a catalyst for the expansion of the area including the new management school (BI), restaurants, cafes, and housing. As a result of this expansion, there was an increased number of people using the underground station, and its original design capacity of 900 people was quickly surpassed. A renovation of the station was thus necessary; bringing capacity up to 1200. This capacity increase entailed extensive work on both eastern and western entrance pavilions as well as on the platform itself.

Råholt school is set in a rural, agricultural landscape. The one-story glass pavilion is a 75 by 75 meters square. It is raised on a half-meter high platform and appears to hover above the surrounding fields. The entrance leads into an open-air atrium at the centre of the building. Four additional courtyards are cut into the structure. These inverse spaces allow for daylight to penetrate deep into the building.

Formally we worked with two ideas, in which the first one was to work with dynamic curves, with each office floor offset in and out independently with its own curvature – inspired by the speed and dynamic which characterizes moving traffic.
