House in Mukainada is located on the top of a small cape, which has a 20 meters height difference from the sea level and overlooks Hiroshima Bay. In the past, the coastline reached the foot of this cape. But after the reclamation of the land that started 40 years ago, the surrounding landscape has begun to change its appearance. The mountain behind was developed as a new residential area, but only this site remains as it used to be.

The site is located at the foot of Mt. Rokko, blessed with the green scenery of the mountain. The traffic on the frontal road, which is also a sightseeing route, is a little heavy, and the next house blocks the view. The house would be better where each person can have a sense of distance and relationship with each other. Also, it would be better the relationship between the inside-outside space is the same as the relationship between the family.

This house is located in the city area near by the center of Fukuoka city on a long and narrow site, 6m x 18m. We designed this house so that it wouldn't cast a shadow on the north side of the neighboring house. This resulted in an "L" shaped house with three stories. In contrast to the closed exterior, the interior is designed well lit and open.
