Intersection of two green axes - The project Lion-Feuchtwanger-Strasse marks the intersection of two green axes that cut through the large GDR housing estate Kaulsdorf Nord in a north-south and east-west direction. Two six-story residential blocks frame an elevated garden plateau, which is designed as a central communal area with recreational, play, and meeting zones for the housing community. Below this plateau, there is the day-lit mobility level with further sports facilities, parking for bicycles and cars, charging stations for e-mobility, and a packing station for residents. The client is a real estate developer, Euroboden.

The “Wohnregal” is a 6-story building housing life/work ateliers. It was built using pre-cast concrete elements common in industrial warehouse construction. Underlying the choice for this serial construction technique was the ambition to bridge two apparently contradictory challenges the housing market in Berlin is facing.

By twisting a three dimensional grid from horizontal to vertical, the three key urban drivers of the site - the runway, the motorway and the former airport building - are resolved.
In February 2010, the building that has historically housed the Goethe- Institute was damaged by earthquake. While FAR continues work on the historic structure, an interim solution was needed, but one with a complete character and integrity of its own. The temporary Cultural Institute is to be installed on an unfinished floor in an office high-rise. The space is characterized by a large depth of 16m between core and façade, but with only limited space for class-rooms, library, office, event- and exhibition space.
