"Beyond the imaginary" – this was the phrase that marked the transition of the KATSUKAZAN brand from the virtual to the physical world, in its fifth year, with the opening of its first store in Pinheiros, São Paulo. The Curitiba-based bag brand, with a strong and contemporary visual identity, positions itself as urban while maintaining a deep connection to urban heritage, fostering a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Despite its high-tech aesthetic, featuring canvas fabrics and vibrant colors, the store's concept draws inspiration from old houses and street-level commerce, reflecting a new way of experiencing retail. The chosen location was a 1960s two-story house, and the primary premise for the design was to preserve as much of the original facade's characteristics as possible: from the arched doorway to the second-floor windows and the small front balcony. The storefront window, which had been altered by previous owners, was reinterpreted to offer two distinct experiences: a long, eye-level window tailored for pedestrians; and a circular structure, referencing the brand's logo, designed to be seen from afar and used interactively to accompany seasonal changes.
