The project is located in the eastern part of Sichuan, approximately 35 kilometers from the county center. The site is nestled against a mountain with steep slopes at the back and enjoys an open view at the front, where rolling distant mountains create superior landscape resources. The current building is built in three terraces with a height difference of 1.5m. The left side is an idle area, the middle section serves as a residential zone for daily living and farming activities, and the far right is designated for livestock breeding.

Lao'e Mountain is on the southwest edge of Chengdu Plain, as if the red sandstone under Chengdu Plain suddenly rises up, and the altitude directly rises to 1100 meters. There are osmanthus trees in rows, bamboo forests, and tea fields on the mountain, making the site a beautiful environment. The site of the project is a flat land halfway up the mountain, which was a guest house for the government before. The north is against layers of tea fields while the south is towards the open view of the valley. The unfolding red sandstone is like the Buddha lying down, so some people call it the "Sleeping Buddha". The mountain, the valley, the surrounding tea field and the smoke from fires all show the quietness far from the cities.

It was a morning time in the past spring that I first stepped into Yushuang Building, walking through a dark, narrow elevator, entering the four-storeyed space, with sunlight pouring down from the sun roof, which makes you feel being in the Wonderland. This has been the starting point of our design, aimed at creating an atmosphere of the full spring bringing everything back to life.

The Garden Island of Hi-coffice was reconstructed from Chengdu Garden Hotel. After thoroughly exploiting the past and present of the garden in the hotel, the design aims to retain its original characteristics without disrupting the traces of its evolution over years by applying strategies of modification rather than demolishment.
