Yutong Bus in Zhengzhou is one of the world's largest bus manufacturers, with its new headquarters located in the Zhengzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone. The new campus comprises three buildings. DU Studio designed the 12-story R&D building and the 15-story sales building, totaling 60,000 square meters. The design process began in 2017, with design and construction spanning four years. DU Studio transformed it from a traditional manufacturing headquarters into a modern, international, and open workspace, achieving a monumental leap forward. As a semi-renovation project, the site was already largely constructed, yet there remained significant potential for improving materials and spatial quality. The challenge lay in utilizing the existing structural elements and materials to achieve an optimal balance of functionality, cost, and aesthetics, while highlighting Yutong Bus's corporate identity. Since its founding, Yutong Bus has maintained a unique core corporate culture of "Virtue, Synergy, and Innovation." Believing that space is the manifestation of corporate spirit, DU Studio designed a workspace tailored to their organizational structure, working habits, and strategic plan for the next 5 to 10 years, reflecting Yutong Bus’s rigorous, scientific, and innovative character.
