Nestled in the urban fabric of Surat, Gujarat, Twin House by Design Work Group (DWG) is a compelling architectural response to the evolving dynamics of contemporary Indian living. Conceptualized as a residence for two sibling families, the project embodies a layered interpretation of duality—independence and togetherness, rawness and warmth, monolith and lightness. It celebrates the ethos of familial bonds while embracing modernist design sensibilities rooted in material honesty, minimalism, and spatial harmony.

This project is an expansion of one already dear to both the client and our team. The client approached us with an elongated site that housed the existing 'Jetvan' residence, crafted a few years ago. The intent was to accommodate another home for the extended joint family within the same plot.

Our fascination for tropical architecture always made us appreciative of its beauty and significance. Site is located near Surat. The land offers a beautiful panoramic river view and mango trees on the other side. When we collaborate with clients, we prioritize engaging with them from the very beginning to grasp their preferences and architectural tastes. We always remind ourselves that every project is a collaborative effort between the designer and the user.

Greenlab Diamond Factory marks a pioneering venture in the heart of India, introducing the first-of-its-kind lab-grown diamond manufacturing facility. Spanning 95000 sq ft, the innovative building seamlessly integrates production areas and office spaces across four thoughtfully designed stories. Breaking away from the conventional industrial aesthetic, the Greenlab Diamond Factory boasts a captivating facade featuring exposed RCC slabs, brick cladding, and a harmonious blend of greenery.

What is more beautiful than to be waking up by the sounds of birds, to be able to inhale the fresh earthy scent and witness the rising sun? Located approximately 10kms away from the city of Surat, this farmhouse is a home to not just its occupants, but also a peaceful place for various flora and fauna to grow. The team designed a ‘home’ for the clients whose roots are from saurashtra. The brief was a weekend abode that reflected their interest in spending quality time together with family and friends, whilst integrating the natural environment.

A box is not just a box if you know how dynamic a life inside is. A beautiful house sets a similar example of well-designed architecture, embodied in one of the city’s compact residential areas. Aarjav residence is built around an area of approximately 219 sq. mt of a plot, having three open sides and one shared wall. Within such tight fabric, it was quite a challenge to build a 4 BHK house that also includes a studio apartment on the top floor.

Urveel is a weekend residence, away from the city noises, into the woods. Located in the village of Sania Hemad in Surat district, Urveel represents the character of earth in its true sense. The 900 sq m bungalow rests on the edge of the village, in a quiet zone, and within the heart of nature. There were six mango trees and 6 to 8 huge sapodilla trees on the site.

"Vanvaso means to dwell within nature and the design bullseye's the name. Situated in Vav village of district Surat, Vanvaso is a place of refreshment away from the city, and into the countryside surrounded by lush green patches of woods and farmlands. Vanvaso provides a peaceful environment, unlike that offered by a thriving city like Surat. It is a retreat from the routine hustle, a second home, yet one that makes the liver feel more relaxed and 'at home'.
