Box in a Box. A refurbishing project with a dual stylistic code, conceived for an early 20th-century apartment in Milan. An apartment located on the third floor of a post-WWI bâtiment on Viale Beatrice d'Este in Milan has undergone a meticulous and unusual refurbishment by DDBA. The residence, featuring a typically bourgeois character, is distinguished by large French windows overlooking rows of poplars and the vibrantly colored façades of the residential buildings directly opposite, designed by Giordano Forti and Camillo Magni.

BeAdvisor headquarters arises from the encounter between a visionary entrepreneur and the rural landscape of Veneto, described by an abacus of simple figures: the geometric surfaces of cultivated fields; the straight lines of avenues, hedges, and vine rows; the bumps and hollows of embankments, canals, and reservoirs. Here, on a site of approximately 10,000 square meters on the border between a residential neighborhood and the open countryside, is where the owner of a financial consultancy firm decides to move his offices, previously located in the historic city center.

The concept consists of the renovation of rural architecture and the demolition of an adjacent volume built in the Sixties. Besides rediscovering the simple and harmonious proportions of the original building, the partial demolition allows the new project to enhance the site's features, compressed between two built areas and open to the countryside.

House FC is located in a residential area protected from vehicular traffic. Its concept derives from a composition of compact volumes that discard and overlap to establish specific relationships with the surrounding context. The base presents a dark aluminum facing, the modularity of which originates all the openings. North it encloses the service spaces, appearing closed and impenetrable. On the other hand, the bright living room opens southward, with large windows facing the grassy garden.

The particularity of the area suggested a building intervention that re-proposes, in the current interpretation, a residential building that can be traced back to an architecture that respects the surrounding natural environment and with references to traditional forms and building techniques. The intention behind the project was therefore to create a discreet architectural volume, developed on a single level, that dialogues with the surrounding rural landscape and can find a discreet and proportionate insertion.
