The two houses are placed on the opposite sides of an elongated plot in a Northern suburb of Athens. The essential compositional features, which organised conceptually and programmatically the two structures are the longitudinal, vertical to the street, wall, which crosses and unites the entire complex, and, the two ‘L’ shaped, concrete structural elements.

Situated near the Chora of Folegandros Island, the vacation house is built on a steep slope that opens towards the view of the Aegean Sea. The building breaks down into smaller volumes to respond to the context of the adjacent historic settlement, which is characterized by small-scale cubic structures. The house’s four volumes accommodate respectively the distinct programmatic units of the living room, kitchen, bedroom, and guest house.

The project, a rather demanding and difficult challenge, consists of a major transformation of a 1980s suburban villa into two separate, equal-size maisonettes. First, the building was stripped down to its structural elements, in addition to the removal of its facades, last floor, and pitch roof.

The museum is designed to be built on the abrupt side of one of the profoundly verdant hills that surround the lake of Stymphalia. The building site is marked out towards the side of the lake by a passageway delineated through the dense bushiness that connects the provincial highway to the observatory at its very top, from where one can enjoy the view of the entire area of Stymphalia and of the surrounding mountains.

At the same time, it is a new bioclimatic approach of organizing the front of the building block to the street and the public space of the city.
