Mark Odom Studio repurposed shipping containers to create a one-of-a-kind experience at Austin's exciting new hospitality complex Parmer Ponds The Pitch. The Pitch -- Austin's distinct hospitality and entertainment complex for Austin FC soccer fans and the community debuted this spring. The two-acre site is a one-of-a-kind destination hub for retail, food, office and outdoor gatherings served from flexible two-story repurposed shipping containers. The unique project was designed by Austin award-winning architecture and interiors firm, Mark Odom Studio.

Inglewood Courtyard House / Cline, formerly Mark Odom Studio

The Inglewood Residence is a 2,400 square foot light-filled Mid-Century Modern home that was designed around a series of gardens and a centralized courtyard. The existing trees actively participated in the design of the home, both in terms of site preservation and heightening the relationship between interior and exterior. The intended experience is to be continuously connected with nature while moving through the house. An abundance of floor to ceiling windows lines each space. Terraced zones are created internally that help strengthens the interior programming as well as maintain visual perspective. A continuous brick wall acts as a circulation spine and moves through the center showcasing the north-south axis of the house and connects each space.

This project was an adaptive reuse of an existing abandoned metal warehouse. The intent was to reuse the original footprint and volume of the building while filling the interior with a creative shared office space. This included a bar, lounge, showers, yoga area, private large meeting rooms, individual phone booth meeting spaces, and of course, an open floor plan with desks for larger groups.

Before Bumble moved in to the commercial building in the Rosedale neighborhood of Austin, Texas, the collaborative team at Mark Odom Studio was already at work restoring the space to its original early-60s aesthetic. As an adaptive reuse project, Mark Odom and his team drew inspiration from photographs of what used to be a Floorcraft Carpets in its original form and worked to creatively mimic the textiles and details of that era.
