The starting point for the design of Rui's apartment was the social area. The main premise was to expand and integrate the spaces. Since Rui lives alone, he agreed to the suggestion of eliminating one of the bedrooms to merge it with the living room, thereby expanding the social area. The service bedroom and bathroom were also demolished, allowing for the extension of the kitchen. The living room and kitchen were then separated by sliding iron and glass doors, making it possible to open or close off the space as needed. The use of exposed concrete was a constant throughout the project: in the kitchen structure, the bathroom ceilings, a shelf that rests against the living room beam, and the kitchen counter, with the latter two elements cast in place. The hardwood plank flooring, which runs through the entire social and private areas of the apartment, except for the wet areas, was fully restored.

Vera's apartment possessed a potential that is increasingly difficult to find in large cities: an unobstructed view from every single window. The apartment's vistas point toward the horizon of Brasília's Plano Piloto axes, and the design began by highlighting this feature.

Bella Apartment / Casulo

The apartment is located in Asa Sul, a traditional residential neighborhood in Brasília. The clients chose to live in a neighborhood that truly embodies the city, inside a building featuring cobogós (hollow concrete blocks) and large iron windows overlooking the treetops. The design for the 1,500-square-foot (140 m²) space was conceived to highlight these original features. The turquoise facade of the building—coincidentally the favorite color of the client, Bella—inspired the project's centerpiece: the encaustic cement tile flooring in the kitchen. In this space, the window sill height was lowered to emphasize the cobogó wall, improving natural ventilation and lighting. The former service quarters were replaced by a more spacious laundry area integrated into the kitchen.
