The "Three Peaks" nature preserve, situated in the Nova Friburgo mountains of the Rio Bonito hinterland, was the spot chosen for the residence-cum-retreat of the director of the museum images of the unconscious, Luiz Carlos Mello. Its proximity to the river was a deciding factor among the choices presented for such a project. Two stone walls - 1.10 meters, or 3' 7", thick - support four steel beams, upon which rest the floors and roofing.

The Santa Teresa’s house was designed on a sloping ground. For economic reasons we prefer to put the house in a single small plateau at 5m from the street. Santa Teresa is in a central area of Rio de Janeiro with a dense green area. The house follows the level curve, with a level difference between the two parts of the house, the social and the intimate one.

A house made for the granddaughter of great architect Sergio Bernardes and a Colombian artist was a challenge. At first they wanted the house to have characteristics of Casa Lota made by his grandfather in 1950, from which we kept some materials such as the ceiling. The development of the project was very interactive.
