The design of these two multi-storey properties respects the scale of the adjacent residential centre. Both buildings are able to optimally integrate in the landscape as a result of their underground garage and the planting of dune grasses. The buildings each consist of two floors plus an attic floor. Each floor houses a three-bedroom apartment or duplex. A uniform design was adopted for the façade and the roof to achieve a striking and distinctive architectural style. The preferred choice was white aluminium, as a contemporary application and interpretation of the white coastal architecture. The shell was constructed using a white aluminium standing seam system, which is ideal for use on the wall as well as the roof. Due to its scale, purity and simplicity in terms of volume, façade composition, details and use of materials, the buildings blend effortlessly into their surroundings. The open space is planted with dune grasses, through which a path meanders to the entrance and terraces of the ground floor apartments.

For years now, the Vlaamse Vereniging voor Watersport (Flemish Aquatics Association) was in dire need of a new clubhouse. The club received a 27 year concession for the lot at the end of the Oude Wenduinse Steenweg and the Bevrijdingsplein, between the former sluice dock and the harbour channel.

This project consists of expanding the ‘Children of the World’ crèche at Nĳ vel. The building is located in a park setting of rural signifi cance, the Dodaine park. Two wings with 18 places (sized for an increase to 25 children) will be added to the crèche plus various administrative rooms for staff and services.

The new centre for youth and culture right next to the station in Ieper aspires primarily to be an informal meeting place for all ages and nationalities, an objective that pays tribute to the city’s tradition as a tolerant city of peace. The recent disappearance of the cattle market has freed up space for a use which will impart a new momentum to the area, both by day and by night. The programme offers a unique synergy between public and private functions: bringing together a cultural centre (CCI), the youth meeting centre (JOC) and the centre for educational projects and activities (ARGOS).
