A little over a year ago David & Louise Cole while on holiday in Thailand visited Mae Sot, a small industrial town on the Thai-Burmese border. While there they witnessed the plight of children of displaced, stateless Burmese refugees, being uprooted every few years due to the lack of land rights. They came up with an idea of a school building that could be taken down and transported with the community, perhaps one day being able to be taken back over the border into Burma and starting the regeneration of the countries small rural border towns that have been devastated by decades of civil war. Following a design competition to find the best solution they returned and with the help of local adolescent apprentices built the first MOVINGschool.
