The well-preserved historic center of Münchenwiler village near the little medieval town of Murten is listed in the Federal Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites of national importance. The listed building used to be part of the well-known Münchenwiler Castle Estate. It houses the largest barn the Canton of Bern of its time.

The new single-family house is located in the “garden belt” around the village center on one of the historical groups of houses along the Rosengartenweg. The slope falls westwards towards the village stream.
In analogy to the nearby agricultural buildings, the house does not align directly with the course of the road.

In a row of gardens, the new building in line with the street, nestles itself up against the steep hillside south of the historic village center. Its location within a townscape area listed in the ISOS (federal inventory of protected built sites of national importance) was significant for the new edifice.
