The project is established on the former open-air parking lot of the Pré l'Arpent housing estate, mainly occupied by wrecked vehicles. This housing complex, built in 1974 by the Andrault and Parat agency, consists of a three-story stepped building with a first-floor parking lot at its heart. This construction of high heritage quality is the witness of a time when these architects sought to reconcile the qualities of collective and individual housing through intermediate housing. They designed several variations throughout the territory.

The town of Ecquevilly stands on the top of a hilly landscape opening onto vast fields. After the arrival of Renault’s factory in Flins, this village (which had grown according to its 16th-century castle’s layout) experienced three waves of expansion: first, a new large residential area, then an activity area, and finally a large housing estate.

Located in the district of "Quatre-chemins" in Pantin, the north of Denis Papin street consists of dilapidated warehouses while the south is mostly made up residential buildings dating from the beginning of the 20th century. Their facades have the specific and historic architectural writing of the neighbourhood with the use of grey bricks enhanced by ornamentations of ceramics, cornices and skylights. Situated at the junction of these two industrial and residential areas, the project is surrounded by industrial buildings on the street and garden sides and by a working-class house and a recent social residence on the gable.
