We knew that the success of the project would depend on intervening as little as possible with the existing structure. Therefore, we felt it was appropriate to add a volume for the bedrooms with a material tectonics that contrasted with the existing building, stepping outside the inherent logic of this clearly neighborhood-style house.

We worked on the repurposing of an old, traditional conventillo (collective housing) in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of La Boca, intended for an undefined commercial use. The technical and design exercise centered on the reuse of materials themselves, thereby giving the building value and contemporaneity through highly cost-effective recycling. We believed the project should be deeply connected to the neighborhood, while allowing for a more current, technically efficient use, endowed with a spatial fluidity that connects with both private and public outdoor spaces.

In a low-density neighborhood of the City of Buenos Aires, we received an order to expand a single-family home. The project was born out of the need for a family that lives in a house from the beginning of the last century, and that does not want to lose its spirit.

We were presented with a commission for a single-family home in the Traslasierra area in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. A very particular place with pleasant views, steep topography, and a fair degree of urban isolation, where getting there requires taking some precautions and the notion of neighbor is not present. The value of the site is nature, which has the leading role as soon as the paved road is abandoned. The work becomes present between the winding of the road, the mountain topography, and the vegetation. And as these factors progressively allow it, it begins to be discovered.

We try to understand this work as a succession of defined areas that are put in relation to others in order for them to function as a whole. We attempt to develop this same approach starting from the imprint. Volumetric clarity consists of determining each area, giving them a formal identity and putting them in relation to other composite areas with the same logic. In this way, a large volume appears at three meters hight locked by a vacuum and as an immediate result, the formal management of the ground floor is injected in its functions. It is interesting to note that not only do these have their own condition and use but the fact of putting them in relation results in a series of spaces and interstices that link them, relate them, give them particular qualities and end up solving new areas that coincidentally turn out to be the most important in the program.

Based on the expansion of a single-family home in a working-class railway neighborhood, the design proposes a complex of three housing units. The need to keep the project connected to the neighborhood's striking character guided the design toward a new logic, working in counterpoint with the characteristics of the site. A metal sheet volume, punctured at certain moments, sits atop but does not rest on the existing structure, allowing the old to take on a new life and a new opportunity.

Located on a 900 m2 lot ending at a lake in Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina, this permanent single-family home is situated within a gated community with its own regulatory and market constraints. The house was conceived based on the characteristics of its surroundings, primarily the long views toward the lake. Designed for permanent living, certain conditions became decisive in its development.
