The presented project is the result of a refurbishment of a single-family residential building in a residential area of the city center of Cuneo (North of Italy). The house is a mansion of the Italian typology called "dei Ferrovieri", which starting in 1908, the State Railways Social Security, began to populate Italy and the areas adjacent to the historical centers through this building campaign, Then, subsequently, all these buildings have been incorporated in the city tissue. The building in question is from 1921, it is a preserved and bound property by the Committee of Architectural Heritage which protects its facades and external appearance. It is, therefore, to be considered an interior design intervention.

The connecting corridor between the creative area and the administrative area is made of a green backlit fiberglass skin. The project is generated around this space, and passing through this bright tunnel is enveloping and emotional. The structure is in dry construction and the assembly of wooden and metal elements generates the connection between the different operational areas. In this project, we were interested in the genesis of permeable, penetrable surfaces, where light and air can pass through, and do not clearly define a volume or a function.

The research for a bright space has been the first intention from the beginning. The second one has been the aim to reach an high quality in informal spaces applying care to the construction details and choice of materials. The situation at the beginning of the design process was presented by an apartment with a high degree of obsolescence resulting need to do major renovation work at the level of distribution and systems. From the start has been done a parallel work between architectural design and thermal/acoustic design, this last one directly followed by the client, which is a professio- nal in the sector.
