The Scout Hut project was started in 2011 as the fifth phase of an ongoing Rural Studio project at Lions Park in Greensboro, AL. at 40 acres, Lions Park is the largest recreational park in the city of Greensboro. Since 2005, Rural Studio has worked with the City of Greensboro, Hale County and multiple recreational organizations to redesign and renovate Lions Park. At present, work includes the creation of baseball fields, restrooms, infrastructures such as benches and trash receptacles, a concession stand, skate park, playground and extensive landscaping.

Rose Lee’s House is the result of two semester’s work of the 2nd Year Studio at Auburn University Rural Studio, in West Alabama.

Newbern Town Hall / Auburn University Rural Studio

On February 23, 2013 the Town of Newbern celebrated the opening of Newbern Town Hall. A small town built around a traditional southern main street and built along a busy highway that connects two larger towns, Newbern, Alabama’s downtown is the center of community activity that recently lacked a formal gathering place. In 2010 the Newbern Town Hall project was identified as a way to fill this need. Rural Studio student design team Brett Bowers, David Frazier, Mallory Garrett, and Zane Morgan began to work with The Town of Newbern, Mayor Woody Stokes, the town council, Hale County Probate Judge Arthur Crawford Sr. and the Newbern Volunteer Fire Department to develop a civic campus to fill this need.
