Embodying the new owner's values of sharing and hospitality, the former 1970s automobile garage has been transformed into a living space that is open to the community and the development of collaborative projects.

A Multigenerational Renovation Project - Nestled in the heart of the Petit Laurier neighborhood of Montreal, the Triplex Fabre project perpetuates the architectural tradition of duplexes and triplexes that populate the streets of Plateau-Mont-Royal, a Montreal district where red brick, stone details, and ornamental cornices adorn the facades. The restoration of the original architectural components of the front facade preserves the project’s integration into the surrounding built environment; the simplicity of the reconstructed front balconies and staircase highlights the artisanal red clay brick and the new cornice.

Le Relais Boréale Brewery / Atelier l'Abri

Le Relais Boréale is a meeting and tasting place for beer lovers located in the Mile-Ex neighborhood of Montreal. This is a homecoming for Les Brasseurs du Nord, a pioneer of microbreweries in Quebec, which brewed its first Boréale beers in the city 35 years earlier. Wishful to transpose its circular approach into the project, they brought in L’Abri’s team, based a few blocks away, to design a unique venue highlighting eco-responsibility and local know-how.

Set against Mont-Tremblant National Park, and nestled within the Devil’s River valley, the Farouche agrotourism site offers a singular and unique concept for the Laurentians region of Quebec. Making the most of the natural and untamed qualities of the territory of almost one hundred acres, the project combines a Nordic farm, a café-bar, four-season micro-refuges, and an outdoor basecamp.

Saltbox Passive House / Atelier l'Abri

Passive House and LEED Platinum-certified the Saltbox House is only the third certified passive building in Quebec. Built on the south side of Mont Gale in Bromont, the single-family house sits in a meadow, on the edge of the forest. With its "L" shaped plan combining two types of roof slopes, the house borrows its vernacular silhouette from the architectural vocabulary of 17th-century Saltbox-type rural buildings, still clearly visible in the Eastern Townships countryside.

Quality of life Space: wellness and the future workspace. The new Sodexo Montreal office, designed by L’Abri and Vives St-Laurent, presents their vision for the workspace of the future. Based on common values between designers and clients, the project puts forward the concept of Quality of Life Spaces. This design concept is based on wellness, flexibility, innovation, and the importance of the human and social character of our workplaces. It emphasizes a dynamic organization of spaces and working environments, a minimalist and warm design, as well as special attention to the comfort and health of users. Entirely realized in 2020, the concept is proving particularly resilient to face the challenges revealed by the pandemic.
