The renovation project for this house achieves a new figure and volumetry by replacing the concrete tiles with a metallic roof, which conceives greater lightness and horizontality to the building. The spatial integration between indoors and outdoors was crucial to this solution, as well as the creation of orthogonal and uniform environments, possible through the elimination of excessive pre-existing angulations. Always aiming to frame and enhance the landscape.

Located in Rio de Janeiro, the Casa do Pontal Museum houses the largest and most significant collection of popular art in Brazil, built during more than four decades of research by its founder, Jacques Van de Beuque, a French designer. For many years the museum was settled in an old house transformed into an exhibition space at Recreio dos Bandeirantes, at remarkable geography, and amid an exuberant natural landscape.

The Maxita Yano – Claudia Andujar Gallery, part of Inhotim Contemporary Art Museum, was designed to shelter the works of the swiss-born Brazilian photographer Claudia Andujar. The building is located on a densely wooded slope, accessed by trails amongst the vegetation. The topography defines a small promontory that reveals the surrounding landscape. This location informed the design strategy concerning its placement: the higher portion of the site was redesigned to receive the embedded volume, granting it an unobtrusive aspect. Contrarily, the rest of the building was divided in three blocks projecting over the slope, each one oriented toward different sight of the woods.

Designing an ephemeral pavilion with large experimental freedom, without the usual constraints that are present in conventional briefings, is a great opportunity that ArcelorMittal offers to architects, rare in Brazil although usual in institutions, museums and cultural centers worldwide, promoting architecture in its deepest reason: the spatial and technological research towards the invention of new ways for everyday life.

The Estúdios Capelinha 244 building is an initiative of architects - most of them entrepreneurs - interested in presenting alternatives to the standardization of the housing market. The building has 10 apartments, all of them with a private outdoor area, sometimes at ground level and others on roofs. Interior, compact spaces are arranged in two or three levels, connected by a central void extending vertically through each unit. Thus we seek the possibility of a life less certain and less influenced by the models traditionally imposed by the real estate market.
