Lantenne-Vertière is a rural town located 20km west of Besancon. A major tile is exploited since the seventeenth century. Two characters have marked the history of the town: Albert MIGEON greatly developed production of the eponymous tile and Father Jean Garneret, who stayed at the rectory for more than 50 years (30-90 years). Father Jean Garneret notably worked on the recognition of the rural heritage and is the origin of the museum Comtois houses. Since the departure of the abbot, the buildings remained unoccupied, or over 20 years of vacancy.
