What did they want for their home? This would be their first place after leaving their parents' house. Initially, the client told us he would stay in this apartment for a few years and, once married, would move to another place. He asked for a home focused on social areas, a place for entertaining. We had a great deal of freedom with this project, as the client accepted almost everything we suggested. This project was the first one finalized in this condominium. The client hired us two years before receiving the keys to the apartment, and we initially developed a project for a single male executive who planned to spend only a short time in this loft. Shortly before receiving the keys, the client started dating and informed us that he might live there for a while with his girlfriend. We took the entire project and revised it. The girlfriend shared some of her needs with us, and we concluded that the original project did not meet the needs of both of them!

His wish was for the home to be functional and minimalist with an industrial feel, and ready to host friends. Therefore, the pieces in the center of the space needed to be easy to move around to allow for flow, as the room could turn into a dance floor on any given night. Caio didn't want anything cluttering the living room—he wanted a space with plenty of room. How to achieve this without making it look too empty? This was a major concern, so we decided to mount the TV on the window wall and use only a single, easily movable wood log coffee table, since it isn't very large. The main highlight is undoubtedly the lighting and the slatted panel in the middle of the room. The base palette is neutral, but there are pops of color in the furniture and decor, such as yellow, green, and black. The predominant materials are burnt concrete and wood. The layout is divided into a kitchen, living room, bedroom, closet, bathroom, and a balcony. The client chose not to have a washing machine in the laundry area since the building has a communal laundry room, so that space was turned into a smoking area instead. The design led us toward an industrial style merged with contemporary elements.

Our client, who lives in Rio and travels to São Paulo constantly, had purchased her grandparents' apartment some time ago. Over the years, two main issues began to bother her: the apartment was very dark and had too many partitions for such a small space. That was when she decided to contact our office for a renovation, also considering, in addition to her own use, short-term rentals, especially since the street was appreciating significantly with the arrival of a new hotel. Regarding structural changes, the wall separating the kitchen and the living room was demolished. All the water and gas pipes in the kitchen also had to be rerouted to accommodate the new layout. The wardrobe that divided the bedroom from the living room was also completely removed. Additionally, all the apartment's flooring and wall tiles were replaced. The biggest challenge was fitting the project into the projected budget.
