Concept: Redefining connectivity in an arid climate
Located in the harsh, arid landscape of Ahmedabad, The Louvered House by andblack design studio is a programmatic response to the challenges of climate and the increasing isolation of contemporary domestic life. The project reimagines the traditional relationship between the built form and the natural environment, prioritizing a lifestyle that is physically and visually tethered to the outdoors.

In a region where traditional education systems dominate the sector, Bloomingdale International School in Vijayawada highlights the transformative power of parametric architecture in pushing the boundaries of education and challenging conventional norms. It is a first-of-its-kind institute and the only International School in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, that has: in its core value a vision to provide education that is unconventional by standards; in its heart to go beyond what other pre-schools in the region provide; and in its brief to bring a paradigm shift in early education through thoughtful architectural design.

We are temporary visitors to this planet. It is important that we don’t leave any footprints that impact future generations. Therefore, we must cohabit with nature and not inhabit it. Permanently impermanent buildings are the future. Darwin is designed as a prefabricated kit of parts that can be dry-assembled on-site (and disassembled when required). It is made from legacy materials like steel, wood, aluminum, and glass. The durability and cost of a Darwin are comparable to that of a conventional building. It does not require a plinth to build on, heavy equipment to transport, or cranes to erect. Hence, a Darwin Product is ideal for locations where road access is difficult, electricity scarce and excavation is undesirable.
