The new Massy secondary school is built on the Vilgénis site, formerly the Air France Aviation Apprenticeship Training Center. This 22-hectare site, with its exceptional woodland character, partially listed, provides the school with a green setting in which this major facility must blend as harmoniously as possible. With a strong commitment to maximising the preservation of these landscaped areas, the project adopts a highly compact form. The building follows the natural slope of the land to avoid the excessive spread of this large-scale programme.

In the southwest of France, facing the Pyrenees Mountain, the “Complexe de la République” built-in 1975 in Pau, had been declining for several years due to the dilapidation of its covered market, flanked by a squat office building in very poor condition. After an international competition, the Ameller Dubois’s studio project was chosen by proposing a global response, taking charge of all the ambitions raised by this operation, both in terms of image and use, architecture, and urban planning, dedicated to the Pau’s population. The project's exceptional location has been rediscovered as a destination, attractive and seductive, to bring the district back to life.

The early childhood school complex designed by Philippe Ameller and Jacques Dubois in the suburban town of Serris, east of Paris, does not seem to be particularly alien or extravagant: a low rise building with discreetly arched roof contours, lots of wood, pleasantly wide window surfaces and cheerful colors. But the urban context makes the new building a real UFO, as the Pierre-Perret School (named after 82-year old French living legend in humorous and humane songwriting) is located near Disneyland Paris.

The building is designed as a three-level open plan. Its façades are clad with wooden panels providing solar shading, opacities or simple window frames, according to the needs and orientations. Its outdoor terraces and interiors in double-height provide places for relaxation which are well integrated into the composition, and provide a homogeneous figure strengthening the identity and legibility of an equipment with very diverse functions.
