A young family decides to exchange their apartment in the city for a detached house with a garden on the edge of the city, a stone's throw from the center, during the Corona pandemic. It is a dated house from 1958 with a number of 'modern' features. The assignment was to turn this house into a fresh, contemporary family home with a relationship to the garden and references to the Case-study houses, car, and interior design.

The brief was to revert and transform a detached house in the 20th-century periphery of Ghent, which had previously been converted into two apartments, back into a singular dwelling for a young family with three children.

The site of the former do-it-yourself shop 'Standaert' is linked to 2 streets of the dense centre of Ledeberg. Apart from this link, the site reaches deep into the inner area, surrounded by garden walls and outbuildings. By removing a part of the site’s surroundings, an opening is made in the city, and suddenly a perspective appears.
