The Reconstructing the Future for People and Planet Conference, hosted by Bauhaus Earth and the Pontifical Academy of Sciences (PAS), begins today at the Casina Pio IV, the PAS headquarters, in the Vatican Gardens.

In 2022, SA lab joined DigitalFUTURES community, sharing knowledge in fields of computational design and digital fabrication. DigitalFUTURES creates a series of free workshops and lectures to bring together the leading architects, thinkers and technologists from across the globe. SA lab partners, Stepan Kukharskiy and Alina Chereyskaya, will hold THE WORMHOLE GALLERY workshop.

Presented at Milan Design Week’s Fuorisalone, in the heart of the Brera Design District, KÝKLOSDÉNDRON (tree cycle) is a room within a room that offers an unexpected vantage point inside a charming Milanese apartment from the early 1800s.
Designed by Boito Sarno Architects, this installation is entirely made of wood and cork showing the potential of rediscovering traditional materials in a modern idiom. The installation has a tactile element, with visitors invited to walk barefoot on a cork ‘pebbles’ walkway. Cleverly engineered with standardised modules that can be easily assembled and disassembled, it does not use metal elements.

“What's Next?“

During Milan Design Week 2022 to be held from June 5-12, mui Lab, Inc., the Kyoto-based calm technology startup, will showcase its IoT system that turns furniture and other ordinary items into interfaces, using everyday human action as a prompt for digital sequence. For example, opening a curtain in the morning will prompt the “mui Board” (mui’s wooden interface device) on the wall to display a pleasant message to get your day off to the right start, the lights will slowly turn on when you wipe down your dining table, and lively atmospheric music will start playing when you put a vase on the table as breakfast begins.

Housing construction from 4 to 1 planet is initiated by the philanthropic association Realdania and the non-profit foundation VILLUM FOUNDATION; both dedicated to how the built environment can enable quality of life and sustainability.

The WASA World Architecture Student Award is one of the world's largest architecture student competitions held mainly in Japan, China, the United States, and Europe. This is a contest where you can submit works such as design assignments, competitions, and graduation works created in the past as they are, aiming for the diverse abilities of architectural students. AI and architects will comprehensively calculate the rankings and ability values of successive, world, national, and grade rankings for all participating students and provide feedback. A certificate of merit will be given to excellent works, and the works will be disseminated all over the world to liven up the competition with architectural students and architects from all over the world.

The creative process in design through which one arrives at the realisation of the object is the theme of MCA Design's exhibition 'L'atelier del Design: oggetti, materiali, esperienze', hosted at the Milan headquarters of MCA - Mario Cucinella Architects. The Twentieth Century witnessed an ambitious range of planning schemes for new towns and capital cities. While these projects were driven by diverse political, economic, and geographic conditions, many of them shared an enthusiasm for landscape as a medium of urbanism. Given the widely documented and generally accepted shortcomings of modern planning, many of these cities are seen as failures in social, environmental, and cultural terms.
