DLCA HOUSE reflects the principles of contemporary Mexican architecture through a deliberate balance of material contrasts, spatial clarity, and contextual awareness. Spanning 496 m² across three levels, the residence is oriented north-south to optimize climatic conditions, establishing a straightforward and functional architectural language. The exterior is defined by a concrete monolith, whose stark presence is softened by warm wood cladding on the ground floor. This material contrast creates a layered composition that distinguishes programmatic elements while highlighting the orthogonal design, where vertical and horizontal planes are carefully articulated in both the façade and interior spaces.

The design principles were dictated by the location from the first visit to the site: Not to remove a single tree and to intertwist the house with the surroundings. The forest along with the topography results in a house that uses the service spaces as stone foundations for then detach itself and accommodate the family life on just one level.

For starters, and considering that the project is placed in an urban area, the terrain had a very unique shape that allowed us to think and visualize a project without an entrance façade. Thus, the entrance was transformed into a promenade experience that degrades the city noise into the quietness of a home, a phenomenological event in which the first contact that the users have with the house is through walls that guide and surround them so they can later be surprised with a garden.

Located to the outskirts of Zapopan, Mexico, this project consists of the headquarters for Anteus Constructora (an iconic local construction company), which form part of the company’s prefabrication plant. The 1,882-square-meter building is developed within a six hectares plot, including parking spaces and outside walkers. Our initial approach was to create a workspace that represented the quality and technology of the company, so we integrated in-house construction systems and materials, such as: post-enslated slabs, pre-tightened slabs, self-compacting concrete, tilt-up walls and pre-cast lattices, complemented with an adequate use of concrete details and finishes.

The starting point from which the design of the nursery was born, was the idea of making an analogy of the growth of a child. Like a child, who is growing through experiences, the nursery’s activities are developed through a ramp that communicates the different levels of the project: on the ground floor there are areas for infants, who are the youngest and, as the ramp grows in height, the educational grades also grow, passing through maternal and pre-kindergarten to finally reach the last level, where the roof garden and playground are located.
