After the original railway station in Yancheng was transformed into the "China Yellow Sea Wetland Museum", the original station platform was not demolished in the usual way. Instead, it was combined with the museum and wetland park to be transformed into a municipal park. What's even more exciting is that a part of it was transformed into the public part of the hotel, which is a revolutionary update.

The Mugou New Village project is in response to Jiangsu Province's "New Rural Community" construction, which was launched in 2020 and aims to enhance villagers' living conditions, address the issue of rural hollowing out, and create an integrated relationship between urban and rural areas in the new era. The project intends to implement new functions and carry out centralized government collection in The Old Village of Mugou.
The Origin of Renovation - From Railway Station to Museum. From a typological point of view, the space of the traffic building and the exhibition building has a natural commonality. The tall waiting room and platform space of the railway station are suitable for transformation into exhibition space. The transformation of abandoned train stations into other functions has long been an international precedent. The Musée d'Orsay in Paris is the most successful example.

Multi-purpose has become a “hit-word” in today's urban planning and construction, so has does the traditional Library. The name "Dongtai" has been used in Chinese history for over 800 years, the city adjacent to the Yellow Sea owns a long history, a deep cultural heritage, and a rising economy, as well as a strong will to build a livable environment that blends cultural and natural aspects together.

The clubhouse is located on one side of a river in Yancheng, surrounded by a park and sports field. The extended horizon, sky, water, island in river, and reed, these elements of the site define a tranquil, pure and poetic atmosphere. In such an environment, we think architecture must be a careful intervention to the site, to avoid ruining the original sense of place and meanwhile create the close contact with nature. Thus a glass building on riverside and in trees naturally comes to mind as beginning idea, to integrate visitor, architecture and landscape.
