Concept - Shang'Ao Canal Social Service Center is located at the intersection of Shang'ao Tang Waterfront Path and Quanzhou Road, serving as a critical node in the Shang'ao Tang neighborhood's urban waterfront renewal initiative. As the cultural heart of the community, the project integrates a variety of public functions, including a senior cafeteria, community library, performance space, and dance studio, offering a diverse array of services to nearby residents. This renovation aimed to enhance the overall aesthetic and functional quality, focusing on reconstructing the façade and reconfiguring the interior public spaces. Through strategic design innovations, we sought to transform the center into a distinctive and recognizable cultural hub along the waterfront.

dongqi Design has transformed the first floor of an old building on Anfu Road in Shanghai into a flexible and dynamic space for the brand “lost in echo.” Stemming from the intention to diminish the presence of the existing columns, the design introduces multiple rotatable mechanical triangular prism structures to freely enclose or define the space.

Xietu Sub-District is located in the northeast corner of Xuhui District adjacent to the border with Huangpu District. From the 1950s to 1990s, workers new villages, multi-story houses and high-rise commercial buildings, each representing a different period of urban life, formed various and rich neighborhoods. Kangju Community is one of the 19 communities of Xietu Sub-Districts. The status quo is: that people who live in different lined up and staggered residences are actual strangers to each other even though they live in the same neighborhood not only natural barriers in age, and background but also perception differences.

The Hunan Street Public Service Station is located in the center of Shanghai. The original building was composed of public toilets, a garbage transfer station and a janitor's lounge. With the development of tourism and urban regeneration in recent years, the original building has become increasingly difficult to meet the requirements of the public and the authority in terms of external image and internal functional configuration. After the public call for proposals, professional evaluation and public voting, our renovation plan was successfully won and implemented.

The Shanghai Xuhui West Bund Riverside Walk is a world-class urban space with diverse lifestyles that bring together art, sports, dining, and leisure life. The brand spirit of the Pluto/Liquid of ideas is to deliver an undefined paradigm of future life. Therefore, Pluto Xuhui West Bund Coffee Station (Pluto X) aims to introduce the collision of coffee and art to this iconic waterfront space, creating a dialogue with the urban background in a seemingly small volume.
