The project was to fully renovate the client's home where he was born and raised. The surrounding area is lined with similar ready-built houses, and we needed to consider the line of sight between neighboring houses when planning the house.

This project relocated and integrated a hair salon and eye salon into a single building. The layout is divided between the hair salon on the first floor and more relaxing services, in the forms of an eye salon and spa-equipped hair care, on the second floor. The staircase provides direct access to the second floor. The target building is old and quaint, and we decided to take advantage of the existing staircase, high ceilings, and the wood grain of formwork marking the surfaces of the structural concrete.

In a residential area in the Hokusetsu district of Osaka, the house is located on a long, narrow site with different ground levels. The client, a chef of Japanese cuisine, requested to use various traditional Japanese finishing materials. Effective use of the site's different ground levels offers different viewpoints and varied and expansive spaces.

A hair salon on the fifth floor of a multi-tenant building in Osaka designed by Naoya Matsumoto Design. With “low price, high quality, speedy” as its brand concept, this salon has 13 stations and 4 wet stations set within about a 43㎡(460 ft²) space. Its smooth flow planning and a space composition of “as is” features and sharply defines the concept.

Our plan was to renovate a two-storied house with a total floor area of 91 m², located in Suita City, Osaka Prefecture. The surrounding area is a newly developed land where houses are lined up without any space between them.
In city areas where the land prices are high and it is hard to build new houses, there are more chances to renovate houses these days.

This house is planned for a family, husband, wife and their son. This small house has 8 levels of floor between entrance in the basement to the roof terrace in order to constitute every space not in concentrated way by big void but reciprocal relation of each space. This arrangement makes the notion of floor ambiguous and the continuity of space compatible with the hierarchy of space.
