The Silo is the natural continuation of the Campus Vert—the broader transformation of the Crédit Mutuel Wacken headquarters—standing at the threshold of future changes yet to come. As earlier projects within the campus reworked individual buildings, the Silo turns to the site itself: it signals the de-materialization of paved surfaces across the grounds and the disappearance of the existing surface-level parking lot. More than a functional piece of infrastructure, it accompanies a profound shift in mobility patterns across Strasbourg. Electric vehicles, power-assisted bikes, scooters, and cycles of every form are reshaping commuting routes here, following both the densification of the Eurométropole's cycling network and the broader collective shift in everyday modes of transport. The Campus Vert Silo embodies this shift as a manifesto, built in the image of Crédit Mutuel's commitments.

We see the birds beginning their work of recovering branches to make their nests, while squirrels are jumping between trees. A few bees swirl over flowers that are beginning to bloom on the tallest flowering subjects. The hedgehog is still hidden in its shelter for the winter. Biodiversity is important. We are at the dawn of spring, at the beginning of March.

Architecture may have its roots in sheltering humans from the elements, but that is not to say that architecture is for humans alone. Around the world, there are numerous examples of buildings and shelters designed by architects for other species. Some of these can be whimsical, such as the Dogchitecture exhibit by 10 Mexican architecture firms back in 2013, or the series of BowWow Haus kennels designed by over 80 architects back in 2017, including Zaha Hadid Architects. But others are designed for a more direct impact.

At the intersection of avenue du Rhin and rue Alfred Kastler, îlot-I, fronted by Danube Vert, marks the entrance to the Strasbourg eco-neighborhood and raises questions about changes in transport modes and the future role of the car. The eco-neighborhood has lofty ambitions: no parking in public space but two silo car parks located on either side of the district. Moreover, no assigned parking spaces, but dynamic space sharing between visitors, daytime residents (workers) and night-time residents (inhabitants), which creates a point of urban dynamism, encourages green travel by bicycle or tram, and reduces the acquisition cost of the apartments. To protect the block from the impact of traffic, the car park structure forms a barrier on the busiest intersection.

Strasbourg has had the status of European capital since 1948; it is the seat of the European Parliament and of the European Court of Human Rights. The city’s authorities quite naturally decided to a propose an educational offer designed to meet the expectations of the European and international civil servants working in the city by creating a European school. The school’s educational model, based on a multicultural approach, wide use of different languages, and emphasis on both children’s autonomy and parents’ involvement, covers a full school curriculum, from nursery school right through to the European Baccalaureate. The school is located in the leafy neighbourhood of the Robertsau, near the European and international institutions. The school has nearly one thousand pupils and, to meet its requirements and those of local residents, the municipal authorities in Strasbourg decided to build an open sports centre. The programme called for the creation of a multi-sport hall and a multi-purpose hall capable of serving as a venue for events not involving sport.
