The land where it is situated is in a consolidated residential area, benefiting simultaneously from a direct relationship with the urban fabric and the sea.

Built on a steeply sloped lot, House 258 arises from the principle of designing appropriately for the place, occupying the land and landscape with subtlety and respect while preserving the existing grove on the property. The result is an architecture that, on one side, opens up to the sunset and the surrounding valley, with its facade marked by the golden tones of concrete under the evening light, and on the other, immerses itself in the shaded and silent forest, illuminated by the filtered light of the treetops.

This summer house serves as an interesting laboratory for ecological practices in architecture, engineering and landscaping. The idea behind this house is to bring adventure to family leisure, allowing close contact with nature, especially for children. The motto was to create a modern cabin “in the woods” that allows parents to “camp” with their daughters on the weekends.

Located in a gated community in São Roque, interior of São Paulo, a guesthouse was designed on this plot of land for a family of 6 people who were expanding, with the birth of two new members. The main house, built in the mid-1980s, occupied a large portion of the site, and the clients wanted to build a second space next to the residence to accommodate the family and friends, in this privileged location, amidst dense vegetation and with a view of a valley.

The exuberant scenery of nature embracing the construction was the starting point for the interior design of the headquarters of a lodge located in the city of São Roque, in the mountains of the Brazilian state of São Paulo, approximately 50 minutes from the state capital. The project is implanted in a site surrounded by native forest, in a region that has waterfalls, natural pools, lakes, and hiking trails.

Ecocasa Atelier is a social residential design-build project in Brazil. It serves as proof that it is possible to build sustainable contemporary houses at an accessible price thanks to the most precious tool in architecture - design. The clients, whose main income is from art, music and event management, consented that the process be driven by environmental, material and human constraints. The available resources were used to their maximum potential with the least ecological impact.

Once there was a vineyard with a small, unremarkable, and partially ruined farmer house built on it. In spite of the modest origins of its construction we decided to conserve its picturesque looks. Its irregular openings where maintained adding all but one larger window looking curiously up the street.

Intended for short stays, the pavilion succinctly solves the program in two bedrooms and a living room with integrated kitchen, organized linearly allowing its openness to the views and the surrounding vegetation.

The São Roque residence was designed based on two constraints: it should take full advantage of the southern view of the lot with an average slope of twenty percent, and be a single-floor dwelling. As a site for the house and the immediate yard, a thirty by thirty meter area was leveled to a height of three meters below the highest point of the lot, based on a calculation of equal amounts of excavation and landfill, using retaining walls reinforced with geo-grids.
