The project sits on the banks of the Seine, in Saint-Ouen, at the heart of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Village. It is built on a former 19th-century industrial site. The urban project, designed by Dominique Perrault, features large "ships" perpendicular to the Seine, with a common skyline for each of the bases: "the waterline." The Belvedere block is one of these ships, set on the Mail Finot, the major landscaped area in the Village. At the center of the block, SOA has created a tall building (R+10) and two smaller buildings (R+5 and R+6) on the rear street.

Located in Saint-Ouen in the northern suburbs of Paris, the site of the Isae-Supmeca Engineering School saw its spatial organization significantly impacted as part of the urban redevelopment project for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This involved cutting a street through the campus to create the road network for the new Athletes' Village district. The project aims to reconnect the two parts of the school and restore its functional continuity by creating a new link between the two buildings, passing under the new road.

In Saint-Ouen, Sector D of the Athletes' Village, known as "Les Quinconces" due to its unique urban layout, features 13 pastel-colored buildings along the Seine. These structures, built on an infrastructural base, will host nearly 3,000 athletes during the summer of 2024. Post-Olympics, this area is set to transform into a neighborhood fostering social diversity and employment. The base will be home to various activities, including the Social Sports Club, a cultural and sports hub open to the public. The development will comprise 643 housing units, divided into 239 for homeownership, 95 social rentals, 100 intermediate rentals, a student residence, and a social residence catering to people with disabilities. The project, part of the urban plan by Dominique Perrault, was brought to life by a team of architects, landscape architects, engineering firms, and artists, coordinated by the UAPS office, which also designed the base and four buildings. UAPS aimed to introduce principles of similarity and variation in architectural elements, ensuring aesthetic coherence while allowing distinctive nuances among the buildings.

We have made available our expertise as builders in the field of housing and new construction techniques, through innovative typological research based on the notion of metropolitan domesticity, uses and quality of life, whether for apartments or communal areas.`. In contrast to historical references, we thought in terms of heritage, so that this new district would be a "long-term" place to live as a family within the dynamics of Greater Paris while offering athletes the opportunity to show their hospitality beforehand. Our work focused on the design of cells that could be quickly and cost-effectively converted to residential use. Our intervention focuses on three strategic buildings, plots 1, 5 and 8.

How can the prestige of France and the values associated with it be promoted through sport, when the French capital has already distinguished itself brilliantly as a driving force in the fight against climate change during the COP 2021 climate agreements? Every major sporting event is a witness to the passage of time, periodically revealing a snapshot of the state of the world in which we live together. This notion of cohabitation is particularly relevant today, given the urgent need for change. Our contribution to the welcoming dynamic is an opportunity for the agency to showcase French know-how, as demonstrators of a new paradigm.

A family resemblance. Sector E of the Athletes’ Village is first and foremost a family resemblance. As coordinator architect of the sector, CoBe has pre-written the main guidelines that govern the design of the various buildings while leaving some leeway to the individual designers. As such, the visuals of the CoBe project produced for the competition have served from the outset as reference images to represent the entire project in the sector. To ensure its total coherence, the family resemblance has been extended into the skeleton of the buildings, using a common construction method, based on a system of post-and-beams combining wood and low-carbon concrete.

As part of the most ambitious project of the decade for the Paris metropolis, architect Dominique Perrault has been entrusted with the design of sector E, located on the right bank of the Seine, between the Cité du Cinéma and the Vieux Saint-Ouen. Called «Les Belvédères» in reference to its location and the height of its buildings (up to the GF+ 10), this is the most residential of the new district’s sectors, which will include more than a fifth of the Village’s 2,500 homes. These are divided, in a mixed program, into five lots and nineteen buildings, all new construction, on which seven architecture agencies worked as a cohesive unit.
