Moos De Hill House / AUM Pierre Minassian

Moos De Hill is composed of two simple volumes placed one on top of the other. The triangular shape of the house opens onto the landscape of Lyon. The effect produced by the construction is stunning due to the contrast between its massive shapes and oversized cantilever. The entire building rests on a 23-ton kars rock that has been modeled over time. The rock supports the first floor and is the starting point of the huge 18 meter-cantilver which seems to challenge the laws of physics.

ZD House / Studio ZADES

The ZD house is located in a residential area of the town of Saint-Didier-au-Mont-d'Or, near Lyon in France. The parcel, with a south orientation on the street side, which requires the establishment of a house at the back of the plot. This L-shaped layout frees up as much space as possible for the south-facing garden to enjoy the terrace and the swimming pool. Access to the house is via a narrow passage leaving no view of the garden.

On paper the equation is simple: a 45 m² extension to a house to accommodate a comfortable kitchen and living area. In practice, the challenge was much more complicated. How to extend a large 19th century house without betraying its character or resorting to imitation or superficial stylistic effects, whilst keeping the right distance?
