Marianne McKenna and Shirley Blumberg, founding partners of KPMB Architects, have been named the 2025 recipients of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Gold Medal, the organization's highest distinction. The award recognizes individuals whose work and influence have made an enduring contribution to Canadian architecture. The RAIC Gold Medal will be formally presented at the RAIC Conference on Architecture in June.

Saucier + Perrotte Architectes Wins 2018 RAIC Gold Medal

Gilles Saucier, FIRAC, and André Perrotte, FIRAC, founding partners of Saucier + Perrotte Architectes, have been awarded the 2018 RAIC Gold Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada to an individual or team of individuals in recognition of “a significant and lasting contribution to Canadian architecture.”

Canadian architect, landscape architect and urban designer Roger du Toit has been posthumously awarded the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s 2017 Gold Medal. The influential designer, who passed away in 2015, amassed a rich, diverse portfolio throughout his 45-year career, including Toronto’s CN Tower, Regina’s Wascana Centre, and 45 projects across 25 Canadian university campuses.

Nova Scotia architect Brian MacKay-Lyons, FRAIC, founding partner of MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects, has been selected to receive the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s 2015 Gold Medal. The RAIC’s highest honor, the Gold Medal is awarded annually to architects who have had a “significant and lasting contribution to Canadian architecture.”

RAIC Honors Peter Busby with Gold Medal

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada has named Peter Busby the 2014 recipient of the RAIC Gold Medal, the highest honor awarded by the organization. Since founding his Vancouver practice in 1984, Busby has built a reputation for being a “powerful catalyst in the growth of the green architecture movement,” a pioneer in sustainability. In 2004, Busby merged his firm with Perkins+Will. He now serves as the Managing Director of Perkins+Will’s San Francisco office. More information on Busby and the award, here.
