At the Alten Markt in Potsdam, directly adjacent to St. Nicholas' Church and Potsdam City Palace, zanderroth architekten has completed two residential and commercial buildings. The ensemble forms part of the new urban block "Potsdamer Mitte, Block III", developed by the housing cooperative "Karl Marx" Potsdam.

Krampnitz Primary School is located on the former barracks site in the north of the state capital Potsdam. To accommodate the city's projected population growth and the resulting increase in demand for housing, a new urban district for around 10,000 residents is to be built on the edge of the Döberitzer Heide nature park between Lake Fahrländer and Lake Krampnitz.

Thousands of excursionists used to enjoy homemade ice cream and lemonade on this historic lakeside property in Potsdam until the old park cafe there closed its doors. 25 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Berlin-based architect Carlos Zwick fell in love with the overgrown property. He bought it, including dilapidated monuments, without a building permit, but with a vision: a family place was to be built here, a house that would uncompromisingly engage with the essential elements of the surrounding nature.

The location and the characteristics of the site could not be more beautiful. The steep hillside plot with its old, protected pine trees arises from the waterside of the Groß Glienicke Lake and offers a divine view. Due to the topographical hillside of the property with the lake situated in the northwest, the architecture deduces its primary functional and design attributes from this special situation. The concept „less is more“ was taken literally in respect of the starting position.
