        <![CDATA[<p><a href="https://www.selldorf.com/?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank">Selldorf Architects</a> have released a <a href="https://idoxpa.westminster.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&amp;keyVal=RFBA0ERP2VQ00&amp;utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank">revised version of the plans to remodel</a> the National <a href="/tag/gallery">Gallery</a> and the Sainsbury Wing, both classified as Grade-I-listed monuments. Sainsbury Wing is also the recipient of the <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/909184/venturi-scott-browns-sainsbury-wing-national-gallery-london-receives-aia-25-year-award">2019 AIA Twenty-five Year Award</a>. The plans for the Sainsbury Wing, designed by <a href="/tag/robert-venturi">Robert Venturi</a> and <a href="/tag/denise-scott-brown">Denise Scott Brown</a> and opened in 1991, <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/985449/in-london-a-venturi-scott-brown-masterpiece-is-threatened">have faced intense criticism</a>, with former RIBA Journal editor Hugh Pearman calling the remodeling plans “unnecessarily destructive”. The plans to remodel were first revealed earlier this year as part of the <a href="https://ng200.org.uk/?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank">NG200 Project</a> to celebrate the National Gallery’s bicentennial in 2024. The project proposes the remodeling of the Sainsbury Wing’s front gates, ground-floor entrance sequence, lobby, and first-floor spaces.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>There’s the iconic <em>Cenotaph for Newton </em><a href="https://www.archdaily.com/544946/ad-classics-cenotaph-for-newton-etienne-louis-boullee" target="_blank">drawing</a>, the evocative monochrome illustration by Etienne-Louis Boullée. There are the experimental drawings of Lebbeus Woods, evocative urban visions of a distant <a href="https://www.phaidon.com/agenda/architecture/articles/2014/august/18/see-lebbeus-woods-futuristic-sketches-in-berlin/?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank">future</a>. There are also the well-known drawings of <a href="/tag/le-corbusier">Le Corbusier</a>’s utopian <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/411878/ad-classics-ville-radieuse-le-corbusier" target="_blank">Ville Radieuse</a>. Drawing, and in turn architectural visualizations, have always been a useful medium with which to contemplate architectural concepts of the future. It is fascinating to look back at the architectural visualizations of the future done in the past.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>The comic strip, <em>la bande dessinée</em>, the graphic novel. These are all part of a medium with an intrinsic connection to architectural storytelling. It’s a medium that has long been used to fantasise and speculate on possible architectural futures, or in a less spectacular context, used as a device to simply show the perspectival journey through an architectural project. When the <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/comics" target="_blank">comic strip</a> meshes fiction with architectural imagination, however, it’s not only the speculation on future architectural scenarios that takes place. It’s also the recording and the critiquing of the urban conditions of either our contemporary cities or the cities of the past.</p>]]>

As musician, photographer and architectural blogger Moby boasts that "LA has the most diverse architecture of any city on the planet". <a href="http://www.getty.edu/foundation/funding/access/current/modarch_fact_sheet.html?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank">Pacific Standard Time Presents: Modern Architecture in LA</a> will explore this diversity that covers post World War II architecture through today through specific points of view ranging in architectural style, influence and decade. The exhibitions, which will run from April through July 2013, are a follow-up to last year's <a href="http://www.getty.edu/foundation/funding/access/current/pst.html?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank">Pacific Standard Time: Art in LA, 1945-1980</a>. The focus of the exhibitions will range in scale and cover the monumental and everyday architectural moments that make LA unique.
