        <![CDATA[<p>A new space dedicated to contemporary art on the Île Seguin, in the Greater <a href="/tag/paris">Paris</a> area, is opening in October 2026. The new cultural institution, named "Large," will be housed in a building designed by Catalan architects and <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/806200/2017-pritzker-prize-rcr-arquitectes-rafael-aranda-carme-pigem-ramon-vilalta" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pritzker Prize recipients RCR Arquitectes</a>, the studio's first project in Paris. It is situated on La Pointe des Arts, a large-scale redevelopment of the Île Seguin's former industrial area into a mixed-use complex spanning more than 53,000 m² and focused on arts and culture. The project's architectural massing follows the stratification concept set out in the masterplan by <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/office/ateliers-jean-nouvel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ateliers Jean Nouvel</a>. The institution will open with the exhibition "Imaginary Engine: From Masterpieces of the Collection Renault to Artists of Today," bringing together 55 artists from 23 countries to explore the relationship between humanity and machines, in tribute to the site's industrial history and Renault's decades-long collaboration with artists.</p>]]>

The project was designed along with collaborators Julian Beqiri, Marsela Demaj, Michel Desvigne Paysagistes (MDP), ARUP, LDK, Gentian Shkurti, SUEB Industries sh.p.k., The Space Factory Ltd, MBBM, and KLAR sh.p.k. The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palace_of_Congresses?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Palace of Congresses</a> (or Pallati i Kongreseve) was built during the People's Socialist Republic of Albania and opened in 1986 to host the Congresses of the Party of Labour of Albania and other official activities. The International <a href="/tag/competition">Competition</a> for the Redevelopment of the Palace of Congresses, carried out by the Albanian government, <a href="https://www.kryeministria.al/en/newsroom/hyn-ne-fazen-finale-konkursi-nderkombetar-per-rikualifikimin-e-pallatit-te-kongreseve/?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called for a comprehensive transformation of the building</a> while preserving its historical identity. The project should address serious infrastructural issues and bring the Palace to contemporary standards in terms of technology, functionality, and quality of spaces.</p>]]>

The design was commissioned by real estate investor and developer Nextensa in 2021, within the framework of a site-specific land use masterplan also designed by MVRDV. The two-tower project combines offices, housing, and public amenities across 58,000 m², forming a landmark in the neighbourhood and reaching 126 metres at its highest point. Recently granted construction permission, the project is designed to reduce embodied carbon through the use of a hybrid structure and lightweight façade elements, aiming to minimize the use of concrete in both the structure and foundations. From the early stages, the firm has employed <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/1034783/carbonspace-designing-with-carbon-from-the-first-sketch" target="_blank" rel="noopener">its CarbonSpace software</a> to guide these decisions.</p>]]>

On December 5, 2025, construction began on the first stage of the scheme, one of four towers planned within the masterplan. The NTT Hibiya Tower, designed by <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/office/plp-architecture" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PLP Architecture</a> and developed by NTT Urban Development in collaboration with Tokyo Electric Power Company, is a 230-metre-tall, 361,000-square-metre mixed-use building and forms the central element of the 1.1-million-square-metre Tokyo Cross Park Vision. Developed in 2017 by <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/office/stefano-boeri-architetti" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stefano Boeri </a><a href="https://www.archdaily.com/office/stefano-boeri-architetti" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Architetti</a>, <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/unlab" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UNLAB</a>, and IND [Inter.National.Design] through a competition organized by the Ministry of Urban Development, the plan's objectives include increasing urban density, improving public infrastructure, and integrating green spaces and open areas into the urban fabric. It is in this dynamic setting that <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/office/mvrdv" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MVRDV </a>has won the international competition for Tirana's new Asllan Rusi Sports Palace. Conceived as a mixed-use development, the project, named <em>The Grand Ballroom</em>, combines a 6,000-seat arena for basketball and volleyball with residential apartments, a hotel, and ground-level retail. Located near OODA's recently completed Bond Tower, the project is part of <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/1025419/tirana-reimagined-how-architecture-is-transforming-albanias-capital-for-the-public" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the city's ongoing transformation under the Tirana 2030 Masterplan</a>, which envisions a denser and more connected urban core. The tower will house offices, residences, retail areas, and a hotel, contributing to the city's evolving skyline and serving as a new urban gateway between Tirana's historic center and its expanding western districts.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p data-start="91" data-end="871"><a href="https://www.archdaily.com/city/detroit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Detroit</a>-based Bedrock development group has announced the completion of the first phase of its Hudson's Detroit<a href="https://www.archdaily.com/category/mixed-use-architecture" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> mixed-use project </a>in the city center. <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/806091/shop-unveils-plans-for-detroits-tallest-tower-on-historic-downtown-site" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The project was first unveiled in 2017</a>, when the company presented plans for a 1.2-million-square-foot development designed by <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/office/shop-architects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SHoP Architects</a> to be built on one of downtown Detroit's long-abandoned sites, formerly occupied by the J.L. Hudson's Department Store. Once the tallest department store in the world and a central gathering place for the city throughout much of the 20th century, the site has now been reimagined as a contemporary urban destination. After nearly a decade of planning and construction, Hudson's Detroit aims to bring new activity and <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/public-space" target="_blank" rel="noopener">public space</a> to a location emblematic of the city's commercial and cultural past.</p>]]>
